Marijuana and a Healthy You: How Does that Work?

“Take Control of Your Health Naturally”

What is Marijuana?

Marijuana is a natural herb that has been around for many years.  It contains an active ingredient called cannabinoids.  Each cannabinoid has a different effect on the body.  THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabinol) are the two main cannabinoids used in medicine.

What is it used for?

Marijuana has been abused for many years just like any other drug hence the major stigma that comes with the just the word itself.  So how dare I say marijuana and a healthy you all in the same sentence!   However, it is used to treat a number of different medical conditions such as:

  1. Alzheimer’s Disease
  2. Appetite Loss
  3. Cancer
  4. Crohn’s Disease
  5. Eating Disorders (anorexia)
  6. Glaucoma
  7. Mental Health conditions (Schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD)
  8. Multiple Sclerosis
  9. Muscles spasms
  10. Nausea
  11. Pain
  12. Wasting Syndrome (cachexia)
  13. It has also proved to help control seizures in children

How Does It Work?

Cannabinoids are similar to the natural chemicals that the body makes which are involved in the appetite, memory, movement, and pain processes of the body.

My Opinion

It seems to me that it is much healthier to use a medicine that is a natural chemical very similar to what our body is already making to treat what ails us than to subject our bodies to man made synthetic medicine that only causes more side effects that have to be treated with more man made synthetic medicine.  I’m just sayin……

What do you think?  Marijuana and a healthy you: does it work?

I definitely agree on the health benefits of marijuana! It’s such a shame, though, that certain people want to abuse something that can be quite positive. Until last year, I never knew that marijuana could actually be used for good instead of evil. However, even when I knew the plain fact, I didn’t really know any details… now I do! Thanks so much for your information on the subject 🙂

Thank you for your reply. I think that lack of good information is part of the reason why no knows how marijuana can be used to actually help people. It will take time to overcome the stigma but we will get there.

    Hi Angela,

Great post. I am a bit of a health nut and although I have never used marijuana or cannabis oil I know it is definitely a healthy plant food. In fact I do plan on using some as soon as I can. You look at the benefits and they are virtually identical to turmeric. So how can one be legal and one not, at least here in Australia? I think in time even the medical world will see its benefits. Thanks for a great positive post.

You are absolutely correct. I think that is why is has become legal in some states. People get addicted to coffee, cigarettes, and alcohol! Last time I checked we aren’t able to use those to treat many illnesses. Thank you for our support on the topic!

I am from beautiful BC and we are very open here to the use of marijuana for both medicinal and recreational purposes. I think that there are some benefits to marijuana use- especially if people are suffering from anxiety it can help. Better than abusing alcohol. I think like anything, proper moderation is key (i.e not waking up and depending on it all day every day). I also think that marijuana helps with inflammation… so funny how the use of cannabis was so “taboo” at one point happy to see it is gaining traction with being a medical alternative. It’s natural so…. much better than cigarettes and alcohol!! Thanks Angela for posting this topic!

I totally agree with you on it being natural and much better than cigarettes and alcohol. Being dependent on it would not be a good thing either. I think the world would be a much happier place if we could figure out how to be healthier. Thank you for your comments!

Hi Angela!! I love your website!! This article is great and I’m starting to encounter more and more people who are starting to come around to the fact that cannabis is fantastic medicine! I have Crohn’s Disease and since I’ve gotten my med card and started consuming edibles, my health has improved greatly. Of course, a healthy diet and exercise help too.
    Thanks for the excellent info!!

    • Angela

I am really glad that you are able to get some of the benefits that it has to offer! It is so much better for you than most of the synthetic medicines that are prescribed in its place. You made a very important point of coupling it with diet and exercise. I wish you the best with your health!
